VINCI Extends Highway Maintenance Agreement with Hertfordshire County Council
The agreement encompasses the upkeep of over 5,000 kilometers of roads and pathways situated north of London. The initial duration spans seven years, with potential extensions lasting until 2046, valued at a minimum of €65 million (£55 million) annually.
In a strategic development for infrastructure services, Hertfordshire County Council has reaffirmed its commitment to maintain highways by renewing its longstanding contract with Ringway. This subsidiary of VINCI Construction has been engaged in this service since its initiation in 2012.
A Comprehensive Contract to Enhance Road Infrastructure
The renewed seven-year agreement takes effect on October 1, 2025. It encompasses crucial activities such as maintenance and enhancements for over 5,000 kilometers of roads and sidewalks. Key responsibilities include street lighting repair, traffic signal maintenance, drainage management to address surface water issues, pothole repairs, seasonal road gritting operations as well as grass cutting initiatives and emergency response mechanisms.
Commitment to Sustainable Practices
This partnership builds upon significant innovations enacted under the previous contract term—such as robotic systems designed to prevent potholes and electric gritters. Moving forward towards achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2030, Ringway plans to expand its fleet with electric vehicles while increasing recycling efforts and using eco-friendly materials wherever feasible.
A Broad Scope Across Great Britain
Beyond this agreement with Hertfordshire County Council, Ringway manages several substantial maintenance contracts across Great Britain that collectively cover approximately 50,000 kilometers encompassing urban streets and major highways.
