Junior High School Orchestra Shines at London Parade
Students from the 18 De Marzo Junior High School orchestra showcased their musical talent during the New Year’s Day Parade held in London.
The Mexican Department of Foreign Affairs commended the young musicians for their impressive participation.
As part of their visit, the orchestra also performed at the St. John’s Waterloo concert, as highlighted by the Mexican Embassy in the UK.
The embassy noted that this accomplishment underscores not only our youth’s artistic abilities but also their commitment to representing Mexican music on a global platform. “Their dedication and skill have made us proud,” stated a representative from the agency.
The talented group, under instructor Francisco Galicia’s guidance, later visited the Embassy to celebrate their achievement together.

No Damage Reported Following Early Morning Tremor
This week, both Mexicali and Baja California officials confirmed that no injuries or damages occurred after an earthquake struck early Monday morning.
The tremor hit at 5:49 AM on January 6th with a magnitude initially reported as 3.5; however, adjustments from the United States Geological Survey brought it down to 3.1 degrees. The epicenter was pinpointed in El Centro.
In response to this seismic activity, Mexicali’s Civil Protection Department activated its emergency protocols to monitor any potential aftershocks.
Baja California Governor Marina Avila urged residents to stay prepared for possible future quakes as a precautionary measure.

Suspect Indicted for Alleged Arson and Robbery Incident
A state judge has formally charged an individual accused of setting fire to a currency exchange establishment while attempting robbery, according to information provided by Baja California State Attorney General’s Office.
The indictment pertains specifically to an incident that occurred on December 22 along Cetys Avenue involving Ricardo (age not specified), who disguised himself as a customer exchanging cash before launching his attack.
Reports indicate he doused parts of the business with gasoline and threatened employees while demanding money before igniting flames within premises.
A rapid response ensued when an employee called emergency services; however, Ricardo fled on motorcycle but was soon apprehended nearby thanks to ongoing investigations at local warehouse facilities.
He remains incarcerated in Mexicali Prison awaiting further legal proceedings for charges including attempted murder and robbery attempts while prosecutors have been given three months for investigation completion by presiding judges.
